If the end of the taper candle is SMALLER than the hole in the holder:

Place a "ring" of taper fitter around the bottom of the candle. Then insert into holder. Press into place.

If the end of the taper candle is LARGER than the hole in the holder:
Place a ring of taper fitter around the RIM of the candle holder. Then press candle into taper fitter.
